DESCRIPTION
Student musicians and teachers are invited to join pianist Elizabeth Hill and Jason Solounias for an engaging and varied morning of learning and music-making.
The morning will begin with a workshop with the guest artists on important piano repertoire that students may not have encountered before. Elizabeth Hill will speak about works by composers of color, including women, who have made significant contributions to the repertoire. Jason Solounias will speak about a special passion of his: the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, much of whose music he has performed and recorded.
The master class portion of the morning is intended for students with intermediate to advanced performance skills. All musical periods are welcome. Students are welcome to bring a solo work, or a work for one piano, four hands; those who choose the latter option will have the opportunity to play their chosen work with one of the guest artists. Friends and family members of students are welcome to attend and observe. The workshop/masterclass will conclude by 12 noon. Participants will be limited to 6.
