PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The improvisational musical dialogue in Dong Xi happens through mutual respect and understanding of each other's cultures, sharing and showcasing each other's cultural heritage. This program will primarily explore the traditions and innovations within all music. It will include presentations of world instruments, introductions to various musical genres, new compositions inspired by Chinese traditional music, as well as experimental collaborations in world music (such as African music, jazz, Middle Eastern music, South American, or Indian music). Audiences will experience improvisational music breaking down barriers and obstacles between cultures and artistic forms, engaging in an exploration that attracts, inspires, and discovers new sounds and meanings.
